After a long time of updating the Google+ web version’s UI to material, Google is now testing a material design-inspired UI for the web version of its YouTube. It is only available for a small number of people as of now and developers are constantly working on finding and fixing any kind of bugs. Apart from that, they are also gathering people’s feedback on it.
This is how the homepage looks like and as you can see in the image above, YouTube is in its new and glorious form.
Here is a preview of how channels are gonna look like in the new design.
And finally, here is how the videos will look like.
Also, if you wanna try out the new UI, follow these steps posted by giorgiomarinel on reddit:
1) go to https:www.youtube.com/?gl=US
2) open the developer tools (ctrl + shift + i)
3) go to the `Resources´ tab and delete the VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE cookie for the youtube domain
4) go to the console and define the VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE cookie using the following command:
5) reload the page
You can also reuse your VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE cookie.
People are saying that it’ll only work if you set the YouTube region to Worldwide/US but as you can see in the images above, it is stated YouTube “In” i.e. India so, you may wanna test it out yourself to see if it also works in your region.
After looking at the new YouTube, all I can say that is that it’s really good and polished and also fits in with today’s standards. It’s gonna be a good step to make people engage more on their web version due to its beauty.
