Bhindi cultivation can be done in both Kharif and rainy seasons. Bhindi plants are one to one and a half meters tall. For its cultivation, sandy and loamy soil are required the P.H. of the land in its cultivation. The value should be expected.

Soil, Climate & Temperature

The sandy loam soil is considered the most suitable for the excellent production of a lady’s finger. For this, the land should be well-drained and the P.H. of the land for its cultivation.

A firm and moist climate are suitable for cultivating a lady’s finger. In India, okra can be grown in both Kharif and rainy seasons. Too much heat and winter are not ideal for the bhindi crop. But the frost falling in winter causes more damage to its produce.

In the okra crop, a 20-degree temperature is required for the seeds to germinate. The seeds have trouble growing if the temperature is around 15 degrees Fahrenheit. After this, when the plants germinate, 27 to 30 degrees temperature is needed for these plants to develop.

Land Preparation

First, plow the field well, add 15 carts of cow dung manure per acre, and mix it well with the soil. Due to this, the manure of cow dung will blend well in the ground, fill the field with water, and give it a plow. After two to three days of plowing, when the area’s soil has dried up, plow the field by putting a pad in it, making the field level. Transplanting Method

Sowing of a lady’s finger is done directly in the fields. The planting of seeds is based on different seasons and crops. For example, the summer crop’s origins are sown from February to March, and in the rainy season, its seeds are sown in July.

Before planting okra seeds in the field, they should be treated with cow urine or carbendazim. However, 5 kg of seeds are suitable for planting one hectare, and their origins can be produced on the meadows by machine and hand.

Irrigation

Its seeds are planted in moist soil, so its origins do not require immediate irrigation. Firstly its plants are irrigated at an interval of 10 to 15 days, and if the heat is getting more, then two irrigations should be done in a week. Water only when needed during the rainy season. Fertilizer

For a good yield of okra crop, it is necessary to have proper fertilizer in the soil. While plowing the field, add 15 carts of old cow dung manure or one tonne of vermicompost per acre to the area and mix it well.

Apart from this, if the farmer’s brother wants to use chemical fertilizers, then two bags of N.P.K fertilizer should be given per hectare. Then, when the plants are 50 to 90 days old, apply 20 kg of urea fertilizer to them along with irrigation.

Weed Control

You can control weeds in two ways in the okra crop. First, you can control the weed by spraying the appropriate amount of fluchloralin before sowing the seeds, or you can also control it by using weeding. For this, weeding should be done 20 days after planting the seeds. After that, it should be kept hoeing at an interval of 15 to 20 days, and soil should also be applied to the roots of the plants at the time of hoeing so that it does not fall on the weight of the plants.

Harvesting

About 40 to 50 days after transplanting, every type of lady’s plant is ready for Harvesting. The fruit becomes bitter after ripening, and yield is lost. Harvesting is appropriate in the evening, so it will remain fresh till the next day.

The farmer’s brother can earn well with less expenditure by doing the crop of lady’s finger. Its average yield is 10 to 15 tonnes per hectare according to different varieties. This way, one can earn one and a half to two lakh per hectare by cultivating a lady’s finger.
